UPDATE- COVID PROCEDURES

 

Parker Arts is under Douglas County jurisdiction, so audience members are not currently required to wear masks or show proof of vaccination. 

 

Give 5 Productions requires all personnel under our subcontract to be fully vaccinated.

Rehearsals / LOCATIONS

 

Rehearsals will run on weekday evenings and some weekend timeframes in May and June 2022.

 

Exact schedule TBD and to be published prior to casting offers.

Some rehearsals will be held at Give 5 Productions' warehouse located at 2997 S Tejon St Englewood, CO 80110 and some will be at Parker Arts various rehearsal studios and of course the PACE STAGE!

AUDITIONS

AUDITIONS WILL BE HELD IN PERSON AND VIA VIDEO SUBMISSIONS. Video submissions will be accepted until January 21, 2022. The earlier you can send them in, the better!

SIGN UP for an in-person audition time slot on Friday, January 21, 2022 from 5:30 - 9:30 pm at Give 5 Productions' warehouse at 2997 S Tejon St Englewood, CO 80110.

 

Please bring your headshot and resume and sheet music with a 16 - 32 bar cut clearly marked. Accompanist will be provided.

Please submit a short video via YouTube link performing a short pop song in the style of the show. Just sing a short cut with a karaoke track or live accompaniment.

Actors must be legally 18 years old by May 15, 2022 to be considered.

CALLBACKS WILL BE HELD IN PERSON on POSTPONED DATE of Sunday, February 27, 2022 beginning at 6:30 pm at Give 5 Productions' warehouse at 2997 S Tejon St Englewood, CO 80110. Callbacks could end as late as 10:30 pm but we will move as quickly as possible as we do honor your time greatly.

The cast of G5P's canceled  2020 production of Mamma Mia! are invited straight to callbacks. But please SUBMIT a little video to refresh our memory and "introduce" yourself to Kelly Van Oosbree, if she hasn't worked with you yet. Same criteria: short pop song please.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS

Footloose Character Descriptions 

Please take note for the dance callback: 

• Tumbling is a plus – be prepared! 

• Youth characters can be in flats or dance sneakers 

• All adults dance at the prom. Artists auditioning for female roles should wear heels.

All humans over age 18 will be considered for this production. 

Ren McCormack (Lead): Male, 18-25. Tenor. Energetic, emotional, rebellious, likeable; emotes  his pain through quirky sarcasm and dance; strong mover. 

Reverend Shaw Moore (Lead): Male, 35-55. Baritone. The powerful, traditional local church  leader; strict, stern, and solemn, still struggling with the death of his son. 

Ariel Moore (Lead): Female, 18-25. Mezzo-Pop. Smart, a bit of the bad girl with an edge, sweet,  the rebellious minister’s daughter; role requires strong belt, must be a strong singer/dancer. 

Vi Moore (Supporting): Female, 30-50. Soprano. Reverend Moore’s loving, supportive, resilient  wife. 

Rusty (Supporting): Female, 18-25. Great soprano/pop voice. Ariel’s friend; a bit scatterbrained,  sweet, fun, knows everything about everything; role requires strong belt, strong comedic timing  and dance. 

Willard Hewitt (Supporting): Male, 18-25. Tenor. A simple country bumpkin with a warm  heart and a big smile; comedic timing and dance a must. 

Ethel McCormack (Supporting): Female, 35-45. Soprano. Ren’s mother; had a tough go, just  trying to make it…would do anything for her son. 

Chuck Cranston (Supporting): Male, 18-25. Tenor. The local bad boy and Ariel’s boyfriend. 

Urleen (Supporting): Female, 18+. Mezzo/Alto. Ariel’s friend; the smart one of the group; role  requires strong belt, comedic timing, and dance. 

 

Wendy Jo (Supporting): Female, 18-25. Mezzo. Ariel’s friend; strong belt, comedic timing, and  dance required. 

Ensemble (Chorus / Ensemble): Males & Females, 18-70. Townspeople, students; need strong  character people (all age ranges) for many roles (listed below); teenage through adults; chorus  singing, dancing parts; all teens dance, all adults dance at the prom.

Due to post COVID increase in production cost (hello lumber!) and a set budget, we are not able to offer AEA contracts for this production. G5P hopes to offer Actors' Equity contracts in the future. #sadface

This is a Non-Union professional production. 

Pay stipends will range from flat fees (inclusive of rehearsals and run) of $650.00 for ensemble up to $2,000.00 for some principal roles.

No housing provided. Actors must have local accommodations and dependable modes of transportation.

KELLY VAN OOSBREE (Director / Choreographeris a busy professional director and choreographer whose work has been seen in many theatres across the Denver metro area and along the Front Range. She was awarded a Colorado Theatre Guild Henry Award for her choreography for The Music Man and Hairspray at Performance Now Theatre Company.   Some selected credits include The Drowsy Chaperone, Into The Woods, Ragtime (Performance Now) A Little Night Music (Cherry Creek Theatre) and Ring of Fire (Vintage Theatre) Disaster! The Musical and Songs for a New World (Platte Valley Players). When not in a rehearsal or a theatre, Kelly spends her time with her husband, Brian and baby boy, Anthony.  

ANDREW FISCHER (Music Director

JULIA TOBEY (Executive Producer / Assistant Director) is the proud founder of Give 5 Productions and is thrilled to have her first crack at producing a full-length Broadway musical on the Parker Arts PACE stage after COVID forced a cancellation of Mamma Mia! She expresses her deepest gratitude to the Parker Arts staff for supporting her in this dream opportunity. 

Since graduating from the University of Northern Colorado in 2001, Julia enjoyed a career producing, music directing and performing on stage, screen and television in New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Orlando, Toronto, Nashville and internationally aboard cruise ships for 15 years before returning home to Denver in 2016 with her comic husband Heath Hyche and daughter Lily in utero. Original roles include ‘Cruella DeVil’ in Hunter Bell and Jeff Bowen’s musical Villains Tonight!, ‘Kandi’ in Christopher Moynihan’s ABC Pilot St. Francis starring Michael Imperioli and Paget Brewster and directed by James Burrows; and ‘Gillian’ in ModRock the Musical. She was bitten by the Parker Arts bug after appearing as ‘Velma’ in Hairspray, earning a 2018 Henry Award nomination. 

 

Julia’s producing credits include Swingeroo, Sister, Swing! at Disney’s California Adventure; Swingin’ on the Sea with The Beverly Belles, aboard Disney Cruise Line; Swing into Christmas and Victory Swingtime with The Beverly Belles at various venues, cruise ships across the world, including opening for Meghan Trainor, Seth MacFarlane, Katharine McPhee; Sounds of the Street on Ellis Island in New York, NY; Black Iris Cirque at Parker Arts, The Cottonwood Club in Denver, CO; Black Iris Collective at various venues across the U.S.; The Mistletones at Macy’s Herald Square Tree Lighting, New York, NY; Santa’s Naughty List at The Schoolhouse Theatre, Parker, CO; and corporate event bands Rockslide and Rocky Mtn. Bluegrass. 

Julia lives with her husband Heath and wonderfully joyful children Lily Jean and Hudson Johnnie. She loves yoga and attracting hummingbirds to her backyard.
