INCLUSIVITY STATEMENT

 

Give 5 Productions welcomes performers of all identities.

 

All races, ethnicities, individuals of multiple gender expression, and individuals that identify as having a disability will be considered for all roles - regardless of how characters have been historically cast by other companies.

 

We believe each person has something truly unique to offer this world, and we highly encourage everyone to audition for us.

Rehearsals / LOCATIONS

 

Rehearsals will run 4 - 5 days a week, 3 hours max (with the exception of Tech Week)

Actors must be 18 years old by May 15, 2024 to be considered.

​

Actors must be fully vaccinated to work for Give 5 Productions.

 

AUDITIONS WILL BE HELD IN PERSON AND VIA VIDEO SUBMISSIONS.

​

Sign-Up will open on X for an in-person audition time slot on X  from X pm at X.

 

Please prepare a 16 - 32 bar cut of a song in the style of the show with your sheet music clearly marked. Accompanist will be provided. No a cappella or tracked auditions please.

​

Please bring a headshot and resumé.

Character Descriptions

All humans over age 18 will be considered for this production. 

​

Seeking:

​

HEDWIG – Vocal range: Very strong rock belter (high to B4)
Any ethnicity. Any queer gender expression. Any age over 18. Any body type.


Description: Hedwig is the lead singer and musical genius of the punk rock band “The Angry Inch”, on a revenge tour across the nation. A ferocious force of nature, Hedwig is equal parts rock goddess, stand-up comedian, and vulnerable human being. Hedwig must be able to transform in and out of many roles throughout the show while remaining grounded in a strong base character. 


This role includes…
References to sexual abuse, the body, and genital-centered discussions of gender.


Perform outside the gender binary.


Partial nudity at the comfort level of the performer. 


Eastern Berlin Accent. 


Improvisational skills and the ability and willingness to interact with the audience.


Must be able to move confidently and be quite active in high heels (no stiletto).


Must have the stamina to carry the show from start to finish while rarely leaving the stage.


Guitar skills are a plus but not required.

YITZHAK – Vocal range: Wide vocal range a must (high belt to an A5)
Any ethnicity. Any gender expression. Any age over 18. Any body type.


Description: Hedwig’s husband and roadie/back-up singer. Yitzhak is bound by the constraints of traditional masculinity but longs to explore a more feminine side.

 

Yitzhak has a killer voice but must always be hidden behind Hedwig.

Masculine and feminine presentations.

BAND - Guitar, Bass, Drums, Keys.

 

The band is very much a part of the show, storytelling, so we are looking for highly engaging, highly skilled rock musicians.

​

PAY / union status

​

This is a Non-Union professional production.

​

Flat pay stipends for actors and band (inclusive of rehearsals and shows) will start at $2,000 and go up to $4,500 depending on role offered, the number of rehearsals we need for you and the number of shows we produce.

​

No housing provided. Actors must have local accommodations and dependable modes of transportation.

KELLY VAN OOSBREE (Director / Choreographeris a busy professional director and choreographer whose work has been seen in many theatres across the Denver metro area and along the Front Range. She was awarded a Colorado Theatre Guild Henry Award for her choreography for The Music Man and Hairspray at Performance Now Theatre Company.   Some selected credits include Footloose, Escape to Margaritaville (Give 5 Productions) The Drowsy Chaperone, Into The Woods, Ragtime (Performance Now) A Little Night Music, Peter and the Starcatcher (Cherry Creek Theatre) and Ring of Fire (Vintage Theatre) Disaster! The Musical and Songs for a New World (Platte Valley Players). When not in a rehearsal or a theatre, Kelly spends her time with her husband, Brian and baby boy, Anthony.

JULIA TOBEY (Executive Producer / Assistant Director) is the proud founder of Give 5 Productions. Julia’s producing and directing credits include Footloose (earned 9 Henry Award nominations) and Escape to Margaritaville at Parker Arts, Murder for Two at Parker Arts' Schoolhouse (earned four OSCA Awards), Swingeroo, Sister, Swing! at Disney’s California Adventure; Swingin’ on the Sea with The Beverly Belles, aboard Disney Cruise Line; Swing into Christmas and Victory Swingtime with The Beverly Belles at various venues, cruise ships across the world, including opening for Meghan Trainor, Seth MacFarlane, Katharine McPhee; Sounds of the Street on Ellis Island in New York, NY; Black Iris Cirque at Parker Arts, The Cottonwood Club in Denver, CO; Black Iris Collective at various venues across the U.S.; The Mistletones at Macy’s Herald Square Tree Lighting, New York, NY; Santa’s Naughty List at The Schoolhouse Theatre, Parker, CO; and corporate event bands Rockslide and Rocky Mtn. Bluegrass.
